Building Hope: Progress Update on COCE's Community Library Project

We're excited to bring you the latest update on our community library project in Sijowa and surrounding villages, Busia County, Kenya. We've made remarkable strides and encountered some hurdles along the way.

Milestones Achieved: Back in October, we celebrated a significant milestone with the completion of the library walls. It was a moment of pride for us, marking tangible progress toward our vision. But the good news didn't stop there. In December, we received a much-needed boost with a crucial grant from the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, coupled with a generous personal donation from our CEO, Eusebius Small. Their support, specifically allocated for the roof, has breathed new life into our construction efforts, highlighting the unwavering commitment of our leadership.

Moving Forward: With the walls up and the roof on its way, we've been hard at work finalizing essential infrastructure. Most recently, we completed the stormwater drainage system, ensuring proper drainage during the rainy seasons. Simultaneously, we're making strides with plumbing and electrical installations alongside the drywall. This streamlined approach not only accelerates construction but also enhances security, mitigating common challenges faced during projects of this nature.

Challenges and Opportunities: Yet, our journey is not without its challenges. Securing funding to complete the library's construction remains our primary obstacle. While the project's impact is widely recognized, securing grants for construction costs proves to be an uphill battle. That's where your ongoing support comes in.
