Fighting Period Poverty: COCE Kenya In Collaboration with PadMad
Did you know that one of the top reasons girls in Kenya stop attending school is menstruation and lack of menstrual products like pads?
Last week, COCE partnered with PadMad to provide 120 women with padkits. PadMad representatives not only provided pads, but menstrual health education to young women and men as well.
Since our mission is to empower young people, we believe menstrual and reproductive health are important areas to collaborate with other agencies. Our collaboration will ensure more girls in Busia County, Kenya have access to the menstrual hygiene products and education necessary to thrive while attending school and safely utilize the reusable pad kits to protect their menstrual health. The excellent education session provided by PadMad this last week was a key part of the event’s success. Their experience has been incredibly valuable in guiding our efforts.
We are hopeful this will be a significant step on our journey to end period poverty.
