Little x Little We Are Building a Library

There have been a great many exciting things happening here at the Collective for Orphan Care and Education (COCE) Kenya. As many of you know we just completed the Little x Little crowdfunding campaign to help us towards our new project – building a library in Busia County, Kenya. We are so thankful for all the people who took part in that campaign by donating, sharing on social media or with friends, and taking the time to reach out to us to talk about the project. 

 

Overall, it was huge success and COCE was able to raise over $5,000 with a match of roughly $1,600, for a total of $6,500. This is a great start for the project, but we still have quite a way to go to get to our initial $25,000 goal.  

We are very excited to announce that we will begin some of the preparatory work for the library in late 2020. The first step will be a perimeter fence, so be on the look-out for updates regarding that.  

This library will be such a valuable resource to the community bringing not only literacy opportunities, but a space for the community to gather and children to learn beyond school. Little by little we hope to build this library and build up the surrounding communities.
