Growing Literacy 5K Results
Here at the Collective for Orphan Care and Education (COCE) Kenya we are celebrating the success of our first virtual 5K. We had people from all over the world sign up to race including racers from South Korea, Germany, Kenya, Japan, and several U.S. states! We are so pleased with the results of this race-- both from the number of people who raced, and the dollars raised to support literacy efforts in rural Busia County, Kenya. We had several people start fundraisers on behalf of the library building project and we are pleased to announce that the virtual 5K raised $4,619.
The staff at COCE was very excited to see results that some racers sent in! The fastest 5K time reported to us was 23 minutes and 15 seconds by Brian Green. Congratulations to you Brian, and congratulations to all the participants of this year’s 5K.
The highlight of this year’s event was witnessing the outpouring of support from people for COCE’s literacy efforts in rural Kenya. This event has brought us one step closer to building a community resource that will better the lives of Kenyan children. Thank you for your support and see our photo reel at the bottom of this blog!
